Formation For-mation of another law and order committee, com-mittee, to supplement activities of one already formed by the San FranciBCO chamber of commerce, was announced today. It consists of representatives of sixteen commercial' organizations, to be enlarged later to include nine more like organizations, aud its stated purpose pur-pose is "to have a representative bodv that can speak for the entire city in the enforcement of law and order.'' B. F. Scheslinger, permanent chairman chair-man of the organization, said: "I have no bone to pick with union labor. All we want is a chance to go safely about our lawful business and let the other fellow do the same." Controversy over the measure of police po-lice protection- afforded in preventing and repressing violence and street rioting riot-ing incident to the strike of platform men of the United Eailroads led to the formation of the new law and order committee, it. was announced. - Issues at stake in the labor troubles, beyond that of preserving the peace of the city, will not figure in the policy I of the new organization, it was learned. |
