Show BRITISH FOREIGN OFFICE RECALLS GERMANY'S DEEDS LONDON, Sept. 22. An official statement state-ment issued today by the British foreign office in connection with the publication of the German and Austrian replies to Pope Benedict's peace proposals says: Recent history and especially the correspondence between the kaiser and former czar, published a few days ago, form an interesting commentary com-mentary on the kaiser's contention that the preservation of peace has been his "principal and most sacred task." The sympathy which the German government expresses toward moral power and right comes well from those whose bloodstained . records include in-clude the ravaging of Belgium, the murder of peaceful citizens, the sinking sink-ing of passenger and merchant ships, the dropping of bombs on undefended undefend-ed towns, the murder of Miss Cavell and Captain Fryatt and the torpedoing torpedo-ing of hospital ships, the bombardment bombard-ment of hospitals, deportations from Belgium and nothern France, connivance conniv-ance In wiping out by their ally, the Turk, of the Armenian nation, and countless other crimes, nor does talk of moral right come well from those who were reported for the organization or-ganization of the intrigue and espionage espi-onage in . the United States since the beginning of the war. which is revealed re-vealed in today's newspapers. |
