Show HIGH-GRADE ORE SHJPPEDTD IVIACKflY Last week seven freight outfits rolled into Mackay, bringing twenty-seven tons of ore from the Montana mine, one of the groups owned .by the Custer Slide Mining Min-ing & Development company In the Yankee Yan-kee Fork district, Custer county, Idaho, says the Mackay Miner. In the shipment were 13.000 pounds of carefully-sorted, double-sacked ore that proes better than $1 per pound, which 'was stored away tn vaults tn Mackay and guarded by riflemen. It Is estimated that the 13,000 pounds will briny the owners better than $16,000. In addition to this, there were some 45.000 pounds that will run around S."50 to the ton. making the total twenty-seven tons worth in the neighborhood of $100,000. The ore was all mined by a small crew of men during the past few months and while it was being taken out and sorted a large quantity of low-grade ore was placed on the dump, ready for transportation transpor-tation by the new aerial tram which the company is installing this fall and winter, and will be run through the Sunbeam mill early In the spring. W. H. Fitts of the Custer Slide company com-pany began operations on the several properties belonging to the company last summer, taking up options on several old producers, after a year's work sampling, ; prospecting and developing the proper- j ties. j Soon after operations were begun some ! . very rich ore, and lots of it. was encountered en-countered in the Montana mine, and this is the first shipment from the strike. ' The company owns a large mill, a long aerial tram for transporting the ore and a magnificent power plant and a well-constructed transmission line, and that end of Custer county Is going to be the center of attraction "in the mining world next summer. While this shinment of ore was in storage in Mackay It was careful'v guarded by riflemen and very little was f.uiI on the streets concerning its presence, pres-ence, but since it is on its way to the markets the story lias leaked out. |
