Wyoming' appears to be set atop an ocean of subterrauean oil, and her citizens citi-zens have turned their attention to the work of bringing this fluid out on the surface to serve mankind. . Last year saw the greatest activity il this respect that has been known in this country since the excitement about Bakersfield, Cal. Millions of dollars of wealth are being added to the state's output, and it seems that only the beginning be-ginning has been approached. It is confidently con-fidently expected w-ithin the state that the activity of last year will be doubled this year, and this confidence is shared by experts who dwell without the confines con-fines of the commonwealth. The coal measures of the state are too well known to require much exploitation at this time. However, it is noted that the production in this fuel has been maintained in magnitude during 1915 and that the great fields have been further developed. The state has had a good year in all of its other activities. While there has been comparatively little new railroad building, the existing lines have spent vast sums in betterment work. Such new construction as has been done has served to bring under useful exploitation ground w-hich had been .neglected because be-cause of its isolation. ' - In agriculture the state has .made. ad:. vancement during the year. This, has been in' the nature of better' cultivation -of ground and the more effective Application Ap-plication of irrigation.'- .Wyoming is largely a mineral state, 'ss. is indicated iu its coal and oil fields, but the surface sur-face of the earth is being made to do its share in maintaining the population with abundant foodstuffs. Another industry for which Wyoming is noted is raising 'livestock. Sheep, cattle and horses joam its vas.t ranges and take their susteuanee from the natural nat-ural growths, which are there in profusion. pro-fusion.
