The club has the distinction of being- the oldest organization organiza-tion of its kind in the Rooky Mountain region and has been a?ked to lead the western universities in bringing the Associated As-sociated University Plavers, the national drama t ir. fraternity, west. ThiF year the University of Utah club la making its twentieth annual tour of the state and, judging- from the point of view ol the choice of play and the unusual ability of the cast, it is believed that it wilt be Its most successful season. The cast is composed entirely of students of the university, all of whom have had two or more years experience In dramatics dra-matics under the direction of Professor Maude May Babcock. The play to be presented fs the one especially revised by the author for Henry Miller, who appeared iu It in Salt Lake a few seasons agro. it is well remembered for the unusual amount of clever dialosrue and humorous situations which it contains. con-tains. The story is that of a young- wife who, laboring under the impression that she is going to die, attempts to choose a wife for her husband to take her place when she is gone. The humor of the situation le appreciated by her congenial uncle, who sets out to show her hor tolly and at the same time have his practical joke. j John Cotter, In the role of uncle, shows i exceptional ability in handling the part. I Miss Orpha. Kingsbury, as the wife, has had considerable experience and also has exceptional ability. The remainder of the cast is made up of Miss Daisy Rolapp, as Miss bedew; Miss Eliza Packard, as the baroness; Miss Clare Kimball, as Nora; Miss Maurine Prouse. as Mrs. Hlggins; Angus Rover, as Stewart Randolph; Mrs. Henry Ruggerie, as Dick Beiden; Don Wood, as Mathews, the horse, trainer. The club will give three 'performances in Salt Lake Friday and Saturday evening even-ing with a matinee Saturday afternoon. Saturday night being designated as students' stu-dents' night, on which occasion the students stu-dents of the university and the Salt "Lake high schools will turn out in large numbers. num-bers. The following week-end the club will make a tour of the northern part of the state, returning In good time to get ready for the midyear final examination. |
