Show UNARMED M SHOT: OFFICERS ATTACKED Grudge Said by Police to Have Been Responsible for Shooting Affray. One man is in jail and another is nursing a wounded leg as a result of an encounter last night at Third West and Second South streets when a fight was waged between a man unarmed and a man with a revolver. The man in jail, C. D. Terry of 346 South Second West street, who is alleged al-leged to have done the shooting, is said to have threatened to attack Patrolmen L-. L. Larscn and C. M. Patten when they arrested him. He is booked at police headquarters for assault with a deadly weapon, but the police said that he niight be charged with attempted murder. The man shot in the leg is Joseph Sandoval. 28 years of age, of 342 South Seventh West street. Here is Sandoval's story: Last night my wife and myself and Terry's sister went to a moving mov-ing picture show. We were proceeding proceed-ing homeward when I noticed a man following us. I did not like St and turned around to the man. who proved to be Terry. I asked ' him why he was following us. After a few w-ords he pulled a gun from a belt around his waist and hit me , over the head. I grappled with him. The next moment he shot. I fell to the sidewalk with a wound in my leg. He ran along Third West street. The arrest was effected in spectacular spectacu-lar fashion. The police learned that Terry had gone to his home and followed fol-lowed him. Larsen went around the building and got in. Patten arrived in a few minutes. Trrv had a gun in his hand. He threatened the officers. Before Be-fore his finger could pull the trigger Larsen grappled with him, and the next moment a wrestling match was on. Larsen Lar-sen handcuffed Terry and took his gun from him. In a 'rebellious mood Terry was taken to police headquarters, where he refused to state what led up to the shooting of Sandoval. According to the police, Terry is said to have nursed n grudge against Sandoval Sando-val for two weeks. |
