Show CAST IS ANNOUNCED ' FOR VARSITY OPERA Professor Tlioraaa Giles of University of Utah Music Department Makes Selections for Production. Professor Thomas Giles, head of tlfe music department at the University of Utah, yesterday announced the cast which "will present ' ' Hansel and Gre-tel Gre-tel " early in the spring. The selections follow: Peter, a broommaker, fiay M. Russell; Gertrude.: his wife, Ruby Nacgli; Hansel and Gretel, their children, Florence Summer-hayn Summer-hayn and Edna rJvnns; the witch, Dorothy Doro-thy Young; Sandniun (the sleep fairy), Agnes Olive; Dewmati (the dawn fairy), yarah Blair. J.n addition to the foreoin characters, charac-ters, there will be fourteen principal angels, twenty minor any els and a chorus of boys and girls. "Hansel and Gretel" was first produced pro-duced at Munich in 1S'93, and is produced pro-duced at. the principal opera houses throughout the world. Jt. is a fairy opera by Humperdinck. Professor Giles will leave for New York on December 21 to spend the holidays holi-days there. While in the east he will see the opera produced in both Chicago and New Y'ork. |
