The students of Westminster college "were entertained by the woman's board of the college last night at the institution with a hard -tii ucs social in the gymnasium gym-nasium of the college, following a programme pro-gramme in the (liawmif room. The programme was furnished bv Owen 13artlett, violinist; the Angelus quartette, composed of Miss Nellie Hasbrouck, Miss Pearl Larson, Mis Stella Lund and Mrs. Margaret Schick, and Mrs. Husbands, who gave dialect readings. The gymnasium was made to present an air of poverty. The benches were covered with calico and the simplest refreshments re-freshments were served from an uncovered uncov-ered wooden counter. The young folks were attired in ragged garments. The invitations in-vitations were sent out on rough brown paper. The members of the hoard who presided pre-sided over the entertainment were Mrs. R. The faculty ami pupils of Rowland Hall held their annual ijaaaar and Christmas sale at the school yesterday afternoon and evening. Gaily decorated booths, with fascinating wares for sale, were presided over by the various classes of the school. A "zone" was one of the marked attractions at-tractions and a Vaudeville show was another. an-other. A cafeteria supper was served from o:C0 untii 7:30 o'clock. The French gift shop was in charge of the freshman class. A lingerie booth, dainty in pink and white, was under the direction of the sophomore class. A (piaint Dutch booth was in charge of the junior class. The seniors took part in the vaudeville show and tne eighth-grade eighth-grade pupils hp-d a candy booth, under the direction of Miss Ruth Allen. Miss Alice Churchill and Miss Claudia Pendleton of the faculty presided in a fortune-telling booth and the domestic science section was in charge of Miss LouL'h. Sti oiling minstrels with ukuleles furnished fur-nished music. The minstrels were Miss Dorothy Murphy, Miss Rowena Allison. Miss Katherine Broughall, Miss Gertrude Rose, Miss Alice Lundberg, Miss Thelma Conover, Miss Pearl Bawden and Miss Helena Bezier. The cadets of the West high school fjave a matinee dance yesterday afternoon in the school gymnasium. A large group of students was present and enjoyed dancing from 3 until a o'clock. The iiuk sic was given by the Selbert Five. The dance was the most successful matinee ar'.'air given this year. . The officers of tho battalion at the West high school were in chargo of the entertainment.
