Show EXTENSION COURSE INCLUDES LAUNDRY Agricultural College Plans New and, Needed Institution in FiUniore; Agent Gives Instruction. The establishment of laundries has now become part of the activities of the extension division of the Utah Agricultural Agricul-tural college, according to the last report re-port of Miss llcttie White, home demonstration dem-onstration agent in Millard county. Seeing See-ing the need of a laundry in Fillmore, Miss White proceeded to interest the people in the organization of: a co-operative laundry association. fSho first interviewed in-terviewed the mayor and some of the principal citizens on the subject. Having Hav-ing secured their support, data relative rela-tive to laundries were gathered from other towns for guidance. Committees were appointed and committee meetings held in order to learn the attitude of the town toward the matter. Finally, November No-vember 21, a mass meeting was called which resulted in a general expression of approval. The mayor was authorized author-ized to appoint a committee to canvass for shares of stock, to arrange for a suitable building and to purchase the ! necessary machinery. The regular home demonstrations were carried on by Miss White during the month. Tn the nutrition project she helped the women make menus for their winter diet. The care of fresh meat was demonstrated. One hundred and forty-one quarts of meat were canned, consisting of beef, chicken nnd pnrk. and thirty -nine quarts of vegetables were canned, including beets, tomatoes and cucumbers. A short course was conducted nt Fillmore Fill-more from November 20 to "4. Lectures Lec-tures were given by T)r. Olson on child nutrition and by Miss McCheyne. Durinir .November twenty-six homes were visit ed, two demon st rations were given, one project meeting was held with an attendance of twelve, and two general meetings were held wih an attendance at-tendance of ninety -nine. |
