Show MILK IN SIT LAKE BETTERTHftH EVER Scores Above Average Are, Shown in Joint Federal, State and City Tests. That the 'milk consumed in Salt Lake is purer and cleaner than ever before is the opinion of government, state and city officials, following an exhaustive test that came to a close yesterday. The test was conducted by Chester M. Jloyt, United States dairy expert; O. F. Peel, state dairy inspector, and H. P. Iluey, city inspector. Fourteen out of thirty-one dairies delivering milk in t he city came out with a score of more than ninety points, which is far above the average. Six ranked above eighty-five points, nine above eight' and two above seventy points. Only one company, the Quality dairy, fell below sixty points, according to Inspector Iluey. This company, he said, would .be given a chance to bring its product to standard. The test was conducted unknown to the milk dealers. The samples were purchased from the wagons without knowledge by the dealers that a test was being made. The product was -scored according to the government score card, which allowed points as follows: fol-lows: Bacteria, of points; flavor and odor, 25 points; visible dirt, 10 points; fats, 10 points; solids not fat, 10 points; acidity, 5 points; bottle and cap, 5 points.' This makes possible a score of 100. The dairies which scored above ninety were Green Brothers, .Tessup 's dairy, Producers' dairy. A. F. Lee, Park Crescent, Cres-cent, Clover Leaf dairy, Dahl Brothers, Paschal dairy, Hatch farm, J. E. Malin, Witbeek 's dairy, Sugarhouse dairy, Berlin Ber-lin dairy and the Kieau Kream dairy. Those scoring above eighty-five points were the Windsor dairy, Bonneville Bonne-ville dairy, Maple Leaf dairy, Moff Brothers, 'Domestic dairy and the Hill Farm dairy. Those above eighty were the Capitol dairy, Howard dairy, Western dairy, Cannon dairv, Hamilton dairy, Smith Brothers, Gold medal, Utah farm and the Crescent dairy. Above seventy points were the Star dairy and Parkin Brothers. |
