A threat on the part of the Southern Presbyterian ehurc to withdraw from the federal council of churches of Christ was presented pre-sented at the quadrennial convention of the council today, when the Rev. E. S. Jacobs of Houston, Tex., introduced a memorial from the general assembly of , the southern church. 1 The memorial stated that the activi-, activi-, ties of the federal council in interna-1 interna-1 tional matters and in social reform vere ! deemed inconsistent with the object of 1 the federation and subversive of the principle of separation of church and state. After debate, the federal council adopted a resolution declaring that there was no conflict between the declared purposes of the church federation and its activities in behalf of social re-. re-. form and that the memorial from the I Southern Presbyterian church was based i on a misconception.
