With the death yesterday of Tony A3bo of Helper, the number of dead as the result of the collision between an extra freight train, eastbound, and Suu-uyside Suu-uyside local, No. 138, in the yards of the Denver & Rio Grande railroad at Price Thursday, was increased to three. The two other victims being Tony Verdi and.W. A. Wallace, who were killed at the time of the wreck. Hope was abandoned for Albo late Thursday, when it was discovered that all of the ribs on his left side were crushed into his Jung. He was conveyed con-veyed to the home of Dr. K. K. Cloward at Price, where he succumbed to the injuries. Funeral services for Wallace were held at Price yesterday afternoon. Funeral Fu-neral services for Verdi will be held at Helper today. After the collision it was found that Wallace and Verdi were dead and that Albo was fat all v injured. Six others also were 'injured and five of them were brought to Salt Lake on a special train and conveyed to St. Mark's hospital. At (he hospital hist night it was stated that all of the five, with the exception ex-ception of Mrs. Glen Ballinger of Helper, were resting easy and would recover. Th the case of Mrs. Ballinger it was stated that her condition was somewhat critical, but it was thought that she would recover, although it would probably take a considerable time. At the local offices of the Denver & Rio Grande railroad yesterday it was ascertained that the investigation into the cause of the wreck was proceeding, but it was announced that several days would elapse before it would be possible possi-ble to make an official statement. |
