Adee called the annual meeting of the executive committee of the Lnitecl States Lawn Tennis association to order here this afternoon at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel. Questionx of great interest to members all ovr the country were discussed. dis-cussed. One of the principal items on the slate was the 1916 rating of players. H is generally believed that R. Norris Williams Wil-liams II will stand at the top in the singles, sin-gles, but many other players, it. is rumored, will have to be content with much lower ratings than they have enjoyed en-joyed heretotore. Miss Molla Bjurstedt, who suffered only one defeat last season, is expected to be rated first among women players. Legislative moves to straighten out difficulties between the east and the west in tennis circles a7td the probability that a new definition of an "amateur" would be discussed, were expected to keep the committee's nose to the grindstone. The ratings of players for 1916 are not I expected to be announced by the com-imiltee com-imiltee before noon tomorrow. |
