Show Coffee Futures. NEW YORK, Dec. 19. Conflicting views of peace prospects seemed responsible for very irregular fluctuations in the market for coffee futures here today. After opening open-ing two points lower to two points higher, prices sold off sharply under liquidation from Wall street and cotton trade sources. March declined to 8.30c and July to S.5S, or about nine to thirteen points under last night's closing figures. Then prices steadied on covering, while sentiment as to peace prospects seemed to become a little more optimistic after the publication of Lloyd George's speech outlining the attitude at-titude of Great Britain, and the market rallied sharply in- the later trading. March sold up to 8.50c- and July to 8.7Sc. with the close steady at a net advance of four to eight points. December, 8.22c; January, 8. 31c; February. 8.4dc; March, 8.48c; April, 8.04c; May, S.61c; June, S.6Sc: July, S.75c; August, S.80c; September, S.Sdc; October, 8.90c; November, S.95c. The few cost and freight offers received were reported about unchanged un-changed to five points lower, with Santos 3's and 4's quoted at in. 35c, regular terms. The cost and freight situation was unsettled, unset-tled, owing to the scarcity of freight room and differences in war risk rates between neutral and allied vessels.
