Show BOYCOTT ON BUTTER WILL BE WITHDRAWN Utah-Made Condensed Milk Prices Will Be Considered at Meeting to Be Held Today. The withdrawal of the boycott on butter and the discussion of -a boycott boy-cott on Utah-made condensed milk will be the principal matters before the meeting meet-ing of the Housewives' league of Salt Lake today. Mrs. W. C. Eahbar, president of the league, declared yesterday that milk manufactured in Utah is sold in San Francisco at thq rate of 10 cents for large cans, or 10 cents for three small cans. In Salt Lake the price is one large can for 15 cents or two cans for a quarter, quar-ter, while the small cans are sold at 5 cents straight. This discrimination against home consumers, the housewives house-wives believe, deserves rebuke. The boycott on butter is no longer necessary, Mrs. Eahbar thinks, as the price for butter is now down to 40 cents a pound. Potatoes are still on the black list, the present price of $2.50 being much too high to please the housewives. house-wives. , Sugar is lower by 10 cents, prices being $7.45 for beet and $7.65 for cane. The question of Christmas turkeys is still unsettled. Mrs. Eahbar had hoped to obtain turkeys from out-of-town points, .but today's snowstorm threatens to block roads and tie up parcels post shipments. Word from Vernal was that turkeys could be bought there for 24 cents a pound, and there were some offers from other points. If the women are forced to depend on Salt Lake dealers, however, it is probable that the price for turkey will be around 30 cents. The nomination of officers for the coming year will be made at today's meeting. I |
