U. basketball team won its sixth consecutive victory of the year yesterday afternoon on the Deseret gym floor when the Weber academy five went down to defeat by a 44-to-26 score. The Gold and Blue boys showed their superiority superi-ority in every department of the game, but the Weber tossers kept them pretty close during the early stages of the contest. con-test. The strenuous trip which the local boys made last week, defeating the B. Y C. and the Oneida Stake academy in two successive nights, slowed them up a little, but they put up a fair exhibition. The Saints started the game with a rush and made their first basket on the initial play. They maintained the lead throughout the game, although the Ogden boys kept neck and neck with them during dur-ing the greater part of the first half. Near the end of the half the Gold and Blue boys put on a spurt and the score at the half way station was 17 to 12 for the . D. S. U. The Saints came through with their famous second-half rally and soon had a commanding lead. West came to the front in the second half, rolling in five field goals after being shut out during the initial part of the game. Nellson was high man for the battle, scoring six baskets bas-kets from the field. The big noise for the Weber boys was Shreeve, who was credited with five field goals, and threw four out of five from the foul line. Dean, for the Saints, tossed In eight out of fifteen fif-teen free throws. Dean was the star of the game on general gen-eral floor work, playing the entire floor and shooting several classy baskets. Shreeve and Roberts were the northern lights, and these two. boys bore the brunt of their team's work. Both aggregations showed class and should make things warm in their respective divisions. Coach Watson of the Weber academy was entirely satisfied with the showing of his boys and said that they had Improved Im-proved wonderfully since their last game with the L. D. S. U., two weeks ago. The team is composed of new men, and Coach Watson thinks that If they improve at the rate they have been going lately they will be in the state tournament. The lineup and summary: WEBER.
