Show PUG BIDS FDR CDUNTY SET ASIDE Rejection Is Result of Supposed Sup-posed Combine Between Two Newspapers. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, July 3. Because both newspapers had apparently eorrfbined to eliminate competition and hold up the prices, the "Weber county commissioners "today rejected bids of both the Ogden Examiner and Ogden Standard for printing notices of election, delinquent tax lists and other legal notices. The bids were identical, with the exception of those for publishing pub-lishing the delinquent tax lists, in which the Standard was ten cents higher. When the board had canvassed the bids of both newspapers they were found to be as follows: Examiner Election notices, including ballots, $1 per inch; delinquent tax lists, 60 cents per inch; all other legal notices, 70 cents per inch for the first insertion and 5U cents per inch for each insertion inser-tion thereafter. Standard Election notices, including ballots, $1 per inch; delinquent tax hsts, 70 cents pr inch; all other legal notices, 70 cents per inch for the first insertion and 50 cents for each insertion thereafter. The commissioners decided not to accept ac-cept the bid of either newspaper until they had conferred with the managers in an effort to have the prices reduced. The bids were signed by J. U. Eldredgo, Jr., for the Examiner, and 'K. C. Glas-maiin Glas-maiin far the Standard. |
