Show FINALS TODAY i IN TENNiS AT COUNTRY CLUB Parker and McKay Will Play for Men's Singles Title; Miss Brodbeck and Miss Ekstrom Rivals. Finals in the Utah state tennis tournament, tourna-ment, which has been running since June -. under the auspices of the Intermoun-lain Intermoun-lain Tennis association, will be played this afternoon at the Country club, beginning be-ginning at 4:30 o'clock. Championship matches will be played in men's singles and doubles and women's singles and doubles. Jn singles, T. B. Parker will play R. ,T. McKay for the men's title, and Miss Brodbeck will meet Miss Kdith Ekstrom for the women's title. The contestants in the doubles have not yet been finally determined. Sam Neel and George Badger will play Frank Duncan Dun-can and Paul Kir wan this forenoon at l':30 o'clock at the Salt I,ake Tennis Huh for the honor of competing In the final this afternoon against O. .1. Salisbury and C. B. Oliver. Miss Helen Walker and Mrs. D. C. Roberts on one side and Mrs. Thurston and Mrs. O. H. Smith on the other will compete for the women's doubles championship. The doubles for both men ajid women will be played at 4:30 o'clock and the singles at 6:o0. Parker Beats Badger. With the exception of the ono match mentioned, all the semi-finals were pJajed yesterday or the day before. There were two matches yesterday In men's singles. T. B. Parker defeated Ceorgt Padger. 7-!i, 6-0, and R. J. McKay defeated Harry Rudine. 7 -.". 6-2. In women's singles Miss Brodbeck defeated Miss Cora Beattv, 6-1, 3-6. 7-5. and Miss l-Mith Smith, defeated de-feated Mrs. W. n. Donohcr. 6-3, 7-6. The best match on yesterday's card was played between Parker and Badger. The lirst set, which went ?-;, was hotly contested. Badger ' played an excellent game In the lirst set, performing at Just about his best. His placing, in particular, won favorable comment on account of Its accuracy. In this set Parker netted many balls and could not get into bis stride. Though he won the set. he did not piny with the dash which generally marks his game. In the second set Parker found himself. He played all over the court and took the balls frnm any place. It was a remarkable remarka-ble exhibition, and Badger did not have a chance. Rudine Meets Defeat. In the match between Rudine and McKay Mc-Kay the former appeared a likely winnor during the early part of the contest, hut lie was unable to maintain the pace. At. one time in the first set the score stood Ti-'l in his favor, and McKay appeared unable un-able lo fathom his game. Apparently satisfied that the set was won, he settled down and changed his style of play somewhat. some-what. The result was that McKay won ihe set, '-', and the second one in a very decisive fashion. Miss F.rotibock and Miss Realty played a close game. They were evenly matched and played the same style of game. Miss Brodbeck won on general good playing. Special seating accommodations will be made at the Country club for the large . gallery which is expected to al tend this afternoon. The present tournament has been much more successful than nny other oth-er state tournament which lias yet been held. More players have taken part ami larger crowds have a I tended.
