Show GERMAN-AMERICANS DECLARE FOR PEACE BUFFALO, N. Y., July 3. The atate convention of the German-American alll-iance alll-iance closed here today with the re-election of the present officers and the adoption adop-tion of resolutions which set forth .that, the alliance was not to be allowed to become the instrument of politicians, but that each1 member should, follow his own political faith. Another resolution a,dopted by the alliance alli-ance stated Aiat In the Mexican crisis the members of the alliance placed their property and lives at the service of the ; stale and nation, "and pledged the lives X of its members to the support" of our government, gov-ernment, w:hose continued glorious development devel-opment we shall ever work for." In other resolutions the alliance reaffirmed reaf-firmed its "faith and hope in our country coun-try and its . free institutions," and expressed ex-pressed the wish that all efforts to question ques-tion the loyalty of any part or section of our citizenship by men or parties who seek to profit by the seeds of internal discord will meet with failure. The alliance declared for preparedness, but asserted that it hoped for the continuance contin-uance of peace, "both as against war-torn i Europe and sorely-stricken Mexico." |
