Show CYCLING TROOPER HITS CAR; INJURED Sergeant Major Holmes Has painful Accident Ac-cident Wnlle Riding New Motor Equipment of Utah Cavalry. G. II. Holmes, sergeant major, of the first squadron ot cavalry now eucampod at Fort Douglas, was slightly injured at 1U o'clock last night when a motorcycle motor-cycle he was riding skidded and ran into an eastbound street car. The accident occurred on Fourth South betweeu Second and Third Fast streets. Sergeant Holmes was taken to the city emergency hospital where his injuries, consisting of abrasions on his right 6houlder and both sides of his face, were dressed. He was later taken to his home, 1369 Glenmore street. The street car, manned by Conductor G. J. Plank and Motorman 0. H. Schneider, was eastbound for Wanda-mere. Wanda-mere. Sergeant Holmes was also going east on Fourth South. When ho ncared the street car as if to pass his course was slightly deflected and when he attempted at-tempted to regain it the evele skidded on the wet pavement. The sergeant struck the street car. The injuries, although painful, are not considered serious enough to keep him out of service in the national guard. The sergeant told emergency hospital attendants last night that he expected soon to be- back with his cavalrymen. The motorcycle, presented the guard by a local man, was taken to the police station by Motorcycle Patrolman W. A. Pierce, and was unscratched except for a Blight dent in one handle bar. |
