Is becoming more ond more of a business is shown by the fact that regular union scales of wages have been adopted by men engaged in both. The prlzo fighters have a trades union whose scale is S'J.50 a night. A meeting of the Football and Southern leagues was held) recently and as nearjy all the session ses-sion was devoted to the wages question T give the official report entire. It is as follows: The proposals of the Players' union were considered by a joint conference of the Football league and the Southern league, held at the Imperial hotel. J. Mc-Kcnna Mc-Kcnna presiding. Prior to. the conference a deputation of the Players' union, consisting con-sisting of C. Volteh. A. Brldgett and A. S. Owen, interviewed the Southern league. The proposals had been previously communicated com-municated to tho league. Tho main Hems for which the union contended were: That all players who, wore not offered a reasonable wage for recngngement should receive a free transfer. Players who had been with a club for five years should bo exempt from the maximum wage restrictions. Players who had sorved four yenrn with ouo club should have their wages Increased In-creased XI per wcok and those, who had served two years, 10s per week over and above the maximum wage. That each club should pay lalcnt money 2 per man for a win in a league match and 1 por man for a draw. In F. A. cup ties the scale was fixed winners of the first round 3 per man: winners of the second. 5 por man: third round winners. 7 10s; fourth round. 10; semi-final round. 12, 10s: final. 15.,Tn the evont of a draw both team? should receive half the amount. It shall bo compulsory for players to participate in transfer fees in accordance with rules. That after a player had rendered five years' service his club should be In a position to pay him whatever lf plcasod. No player transferred for misconduct should receive any portion of the transfer fee. After a full discussion the following resolutions were adopted and the secretaries secre-taries were instructed to forward them to the secretary of the Players' union.
