Show SEGTIOi HOUSE IS LOOTED BY HOBOES Burglars in Jail at Modcna. the Robbery Having Occurred Oc-curred Near There. Special to The Tribune. MODEN'A, Utah. May 13 Four hoboes boldly burglarized the section house at Beryl, a siding sixteen miles east of Modcna, Mo-dcna, shortly after noon yesterday. Mu-nekata, Mu-nekata, the Japanese section foreman, returning re-turning to Beryl on a railroad velocipede, surprised the quartette who, upon being discovered, hastily fled down the track. The Japanesu romoupted and sped his velocipede to a point several miles distant, dis-tant, where the section hands were at work nnd gave thfi alarm. Arming them-Folves them-Folves the Japs started In pursuit and qulcklv overtook the hoboes, who Immediately Imme-diately surrendered after the Jans started start-ed shooting at them They were herded together out on the desert and held at thu point of the Jnps' gruns while the section foreman wired Agent Johnston at this point, of tho capture. Special Officers Lloyd and Hedges of the Salt Lake Route, who wens in Modcna Mo-dcna at the time, were notified and took the first train east. They brought the men to Modena and placed them in cus-todv cus-todv of Deputy Sheriff Arthur Kimball. A search of the prisoners resullod In tho recovor yof a revolver, ammunition, two razors, a purse, some Jewelry and a miscellaneous mis-cellaneous collection of other plunder, all of which wns stolen from th section house which was forcibly entered by thorn They had broken open a trunk when surprised and would doubtless have looted the premises completely and gotten got-ten away fully armed had they not been diHcovcrod so soon. The robbers are all young men of the hoodlum typo, between twenty and twen-ty-flva years of age, and are being held here pending further Instructions from tho district attorney and the sheriff of Iron county. They gavo their names and addresses as follows; Alfred Simon, Patterson, Pat-terson, N. J. ; Wlnford Francjs. Ogdon; E. Colman and Frank Smith, tho latter known as "Kid" Smith, of Salt Lake City. |
