Rob-inson. The nepro ran forward and scooped up tho ball just as It was about to touch the ground. The dive for tho ball threw Robinson forward on his faco and he fell prone on the diamond, but ho hold tho ball tightly in the hare hand with which he caught It. When ho regained his feet he ran to second and completed a double unassisted. This freak plav undoubtedly saved the negroes from defeat, as it retired the side Just when the Diamondville boys were threatening threat-ening to rake In a tally or two. Pitchers Perform Well. "Indian" Smith pitched a pood gamo for the negroes, allowing six hits. With the exception of the third inning, In which Diamondville pounded out its only three runs, he held the visitors to throe scnttored hits. Morgan pitched a strong game, but his support was poor. The Occidentals started their run-getting in the first inning. Robinson got to first on Smith's error. Lane flow out to Smith and Robinson was doubled out at second. Black was hit by a pitched ball and reached second when Hawkins beat out a bunt-Smith bunt-Smith grounded one to Chambers and Hawkins was caught at second. Smith muffed a throw to third and Black scored. The negroes didn't get another chance I till the sixth. Burns singled and Mc-Adoo Mc-Adoo pounded out a two-bagger. 'Black grounded out to pitcher and Burns was caught at third on Hawkins's grounder. Langlcy rolled out to first. In the seventh sev-enth with two men out. singles In succession suc-cession by Lane, Langford and Burns netted two runs. Diamondville 's Runs. After walking one man. Smith struck out the next three Diamondville men up. He followed this performance by fanning two more in tho second. In the third with one gone. Ward singled. McAdoo missed a throw to first on Dorseh' grounder and Morgan scored and Dorsch reached third. Smith doubled, scoring Dorsch. Brose got to first on Hawkins's -error. Converse doubled, scoring Smith. The next two up flew out to Hawkins. The next opportunity for Diamondville came in the sixth. Moore started things with a slnple. Chambers reached firs; on Hawkins's error. Fisher sacrificed. With only one out and a man on second and third. Ward smashed a hard one between be-tween first and second. Robinson raced toward the ball, fell forward and scooped up the ball, making the most spectacular one-handed catch of the year. He recovered re-covered In time to double Chambers out on second, retiring the side without a run. The same two teams will meet again this (Wednesday) afternoon at Walker's field at 3:30 o'clock. Either Hummel or Ward will pitch for Diamondville and either Mooney or Rogers for the Occidentals. Occi-dentals.
