Is a question which Is puzzling even some of the wise ones In the Republican party of this county. It Is hard for some of these Republicans Re-publicans to evou believe the story that Congressman Howell has named President Presi-dent Shurtllff as the man for the office, especially In view of the fact tha.t Mr. Shurtllff has never been considered one of the leading lights In politics. One Republican Is authority for the statement that he did not even know President Shurtllff was a member of the party, and he was serious when the statement was made. He explained hl3 statement by declaring that President Shurtllff had affiliated with so many political po-litical parties and been astride of the fence between times, that he had really forgotten tho churchman's politics.
