Rev. and Dear Sir You will, allow me I to give a Httlo explanation of a mistake I have made In regard to you. Last October Oc-tober I noticed that a stranger stopped at Knutsford who looked like me, and I was tempted to have some fun at his expense who looked like me. I noticed that you returned last month, and not dreaming that you are a Catholic priest I began to circulate around, use your name and take advantage of the resemblance resem-blance which Is so very clone that I often smiled when I saw you In the street. Tho newsboys seemed to have great confidence confi-dence In you, for I could always get a paper even when Etrandcd. The red-haired red-haired boy on Main and Eighth South at the newstand was taken In badly, for at one time he asked me for a catechism, i Xow. father, I see from my friend's let- i ter that I enclose here that I have caused i you a deal of trouble u.nd I am willing to repair the damage In some way and would like to meet 3-ou at tho Knutsford tomorrow. Humbly begging your pardon, .1 am vours to be forgiven, "U. S. BURN'S. In the letter from Mr. Burns'c friend, I to which reference Is made, the writer i says: "By the way, that guy you were ; personating as E. V. P.ennolds turns out 1 to be a Catholic priest, and It seoms you got him Into trouble with the police' The charges made In Los Angeles and Investigated by George Sheets had no foundation. There were seventy bathing in the pool when the boy was drowned. Rev. E. V. Reynolds, In a letter Inclosed with Mr. Burn6's letter, says: "Vfhen I left you I was heartbrokon, and I could not explain myself. I trust you may show this note to tho RL Row Bishop and also to the judiro of the juvenile court." Mr. George Sheets told the writer that there was not a scintilla of evidence to base any charge made by tho mallgner of a priestly character, and as Tho Trlb-uno Trlb-uno has given wide circulation to the unjust un-just charge. 1 ask In tne narao of Justice that this denial be published.
