North street, was badly-injured Friday evening, about. 0:-lo o'clock, at raiu and Fitth South streets. Tomlinson ro-coived ro-coived a scalp wound and a severe shaking shak-ing up. Tho two sloighrido parties verc racing rac-ing down Main street whpn tho tearn in lite rear struck a rough place in tho road and tho sleigh was overturned. Tho horses then broke away from tho driver and ran into tho rear of the vehicle i which Tomlinson was driving. Tho foreo of the horses striking tho rear end of tho sleigh knocked Tomlinson from tho sent to the road. His own team then took fright bccatipo of tho collision and started to run away. Tomlinson clung to tho reins and as a result, before be-fore he could get to the excited animals' ani-mals' heads, they had dragged him against the edgo of tho street curbing, causing the injuries. Thc injured man was picked up by other mombcrs of tho party, none of whom was hurt, and carried into tho homo of Mrs. Emilv Bailey, at 515 South Main street. T)r. F. S. Bascom, assisted by Miss Edna Bailej', attended the mau's injuries and later Tomlinson was taken to his home in a carriage. Tho horses attached to both teams wcro thrown down in tho accident, but no injury wan done to them. The party in tho sleigh which capsized righted tho vchiclo and continued their ride. In thc sleigh driven by Tomlinsan there was a party of live youu women, who refused to give their names. |
