Show Six h Are Hart in Collisioa Ono a Salt Laker, Who Was in Charge- of Car of Haco Horses. ALBANY, Or., Oct 29. Six men wjre ftllghtly Injured and two valuable race hon?es killed in a rear-end collision between be-tween two freight trains on the Southern South-ern Pacific near Jefferson today. Five of the injured men wero in charge of a car of ten race horws bound for Oakland, Oak-land, Cal. They are John McCarthy, Salem, Or.; John C. Turner. San Lean-dro, Lean-dro, Cal.; Mike Malone, San Francisco; Herbert Kent, San Francisco, and John La trass, Salt Lake. The second section of the freight ran into the llrst Bectlon, which had stopped for wood, telescoping several cars. In one of these were the race horoes, belonging be-longing to Johnson & Co. and William Reynolds of Great Falls, Mont. The racer Sallle Goodwin was killed and Cllvso was so badly injured that ho was shot. Bummer, Suburban, Queen and StewardeM were slightly injured. |
