Democratic candidate for Governor Gov-ernor of New York, and United States Senator Rayner of Maryland, spoke hero tonight at a mass meeting hold in Carnoclo hall under the auspices of the collego mon'tf Parker and Davis league. William llornblowcr was Introduced In-troduced as the presiding officer. Senator Rayner took lasuo with tho Republicans upon the prosperity argument, argu-ment, admitting that there Is a period of business revival with the classes, but denying that It extended to tho masses. Mr. Rayner referred to the Schley case, announcing his determination tq Impeach "this iniquitous conviction and show that tills verdict ought to be obliterated ob-literated from the pages of American history," and concluded with this further fur-ther reference to President Roosevelt: "I have not a word to utter against the character of President Roosevelt, public or private. He is a man of high motives, unlmpeachablo integrity and , unflinching courage. He is, neverthe-, UM less an autocrat and a tyrant.
