Show Russian Squadron Is Still at Vigo Admiral Rojestvensky StDl Maintains Main-tains That Torpedo Boats Menaced Men-aced His Fleet. VIGO, Spain, Oct. 29. The Russian squadron is still in port. Upon the main question relative to the Identity of the Japanese torpedo boats said to have been seen among the Hull fishing fleet during the night of October 21-22, Vice-Admiral Vice-Admiral Rojestvensky said to the Associated As-sociated Press today: "Rumors had reached me that tho Japanese would attack the squadron, and when I suddenly saw that night the two torpedo boats between our two divisions di-visions and heard the noise of the firing of torpedoes I doubted not that Uiey were Japanese. "Prince Keretelll, an officer on board the battleship Alexander III., told mo that the transnort Areadaur was surrounded sur-rounded by eight torpedo boats or vessels ves-sels carrying torpedo tubes. The Areadaur Area-daur signalled her danger, and when our battleships advanced we did not for one moment suppose that the attacking vessels could be fishermen." |
