Show West Bountiful By ALICE MITCHELL 295-1156 The citizens are beginning to have hope again, after some snow storms and days of sunshine. sun-shine. They know that there are many days of uncertain weather ahead. Everyone is looking forward to February and Valentine's Day. They also look forward to Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays. It should be a time of love for neighbors, outsiders, and for country, especially. The hostages hos-tages are home, after what seemed like an eternity. They are so appreciative of the love extended to them, symbolized by the yellow ribbons everywhere. every-where. We should extend the same Valentine month love to all who are in need or who are strangers in this land. Del and Faye Byington are especially happy to have a new great grandchild. It was bom to Tauna Parker Hinckley and husband Dwight. The baby girl, Crystal, by name, is also the granddaughter of Jimmy Parker and wife, of the Bountiful Bounti-ful Utah West Stake. We are sorry to learn that Agness B. Mangus has been hospitalized, but is recuperating. recuperat-ing. She lives at the Heritage House. welcome home to uarth and Nora Hogan of 10th North. They have been Indian missionaries mis-sionaries in Macy, Nebraska and the Dakotas. She helped to teach the Lamanite women to tie quilts and to do "old-fashioned" "old-fashioned" quilting. She assisted in doing some forty quilts. Garth assisted in the building of a chapel, during the latter part of their mission. Nora learned some of the arts of beading and other talents from the Indians in their first locality. Gary Peterson journed to New Mexico on business. Members of the Seventh ward are reminded of ward conference. It began with the MIA Feb. 3. It will continue to Sunday the 8th of February. The Elders' Quorum of the Seventh Ward are planning a fun outing for Feb. 6 and 7. They will have an over-nighter down at Fairview. The Elders are inviting the Seventies and High Priests to accompany them. The committee in charge of the activity are: Mike and Virginia Stone, Joe and Marie Kearn. J.R. and Kathy Ban-gerter Ban-gerter and Kim and Kari Byington. Claron Swenson was the speaker in the First Ward Sacrament Sac-rament Meeting last Sunday. The youth and leaders of the First Ward held a breakfast on Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Chapel. The First Ward Relief Society Socie-ty homemaking night last night was a success. They worked on three-day emergency kits. Citizens are invited and urged to support the Scout sustaining sus-taining membership drive. John K. Foster, son of Nancy Nan-cy and Darrell Foster was graduated gra-duated from Primary and made a Deacon. Ralph McQuiston was made Scoutmaster in the Seventh Ward. The Seventh Ward is holding hold-ing a Valentine's Day Dance for the youth. The Seventh Ward is planning plan-ning a ward dinner for Feb. 28. Dawn Montgomery has been hospitalized. We wish her the best. Remember that tomorrow is the night when the members of the Stake Board of Relief Society Soci-ety will meet at the stake house at 7 p.m. Charles and Ruby Evans enjoyed en-joyed a trip to Idaho to see Charlie's parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Chandler. We extend deepest sympathy sym-pathy to the family of Joe Jar-vis. Jar-vis. He delivered mail to the Woods Cross area (which included in-cluded West Bountiful) for over 25 years. He also sold Farmers' Insurance. His smiling smil-ing face was well known wherever he went.. He was a resident of Bountiful. He was a a friendly and willing worker. The Doug. Argyles have had their son Ben come to visit them twice during the past month. He was accompanied by his wife, Denice, and sons, Tyler and Kory . They reside in Wells, Nevada. Denice is the daughter of the Ken Olsens and the granddaughter of Ruby Olsen. Ben has been working with oil rigs. Last time he came up he took his brother Brady back with him to work in the same business. The Will Chastons went to Pocatello, Ida. to help celebrate cele-brate Lue's father's birthday. They visited with her folks, Doyle and Lillie Croney and also with her grandparents, Carroll and lone Willmore. Lue has a special job with the West Bountiful Elementary School PTA.She arranges for displays in the media center each month. She has had displays dis-plays from all over the world. The latest is a doll collection brought by one of the students of the school. Congratulations to Kym Chaston, who recently qualified for the AAU Swim Team! Raymond Hayes had his birthday this past month. His folks, Raymond and Daisy Hayes, came down from Bountiful to help him celebrate his big day. The Dana Jeppsons were happy to have a visit from Jolene's mother. Beverlv Had- field and her sister Annette and brother Dan. They came dow n from Boise to visit and to see the dentist. Alta Jeppson is looking forward for-ward to going to Oklahoma for further training. Nanella Jones is in Afton. Wyoming. She is taking care of her daughter. Betty Horsley. George Knighton has been feeling well enough to sing a solo in Sacrament Meeting in his ward, the Third Ward. He sang "1 Walked Today Where Jesus Walked." Both he and Edith are hoping for better days, so that they can get out more. The Del Nobles were happy to have a visit from their grandson grand-son Steve Howard, who is attending Snow College. Lydia Bangerter has enjoyed en-joyed some great visits to California Cali-fornia to be with her grandsons Lee and Dee. She was in California Cali-fornia for the Rose Bowl parade. para-de. She just returned from staying with Lee's children, while he and his wife Anita attended the inaugural celebration celeb-ration in Washington D.C. Cari Pack, daughter of the Ron Garners, stayed with them while her husband was working in Wyoming. She was accompanied by Penny. Greg James, and Mary Lynn, her children. Cari and family are from Myton, Utah. Frank Hatch is feeling better after his bout with the tlu. Edith and he are hoping for better weather, so that she might get out more. Recently they took a drive to visit her sister in Clearfield. |
