In use today we have the Gregorian calendar in Western Europe, the Julian in many countries of Eastern Europe, the Hebrew among the Jews, Members of the Baha'i Faith throughout the world are making mak-ing preparations to celebrate their days specially devoted to hospitality to friends, the giving giv-ing of gifts, ministering to the poor and sick. etc. THIS PERIOD of time is cal-led cal-led the Intercalary Days (Ayya'm-i-Ha), extending from Feb. 26 to March I, inclusive. Immediately following this occasion is the time when Baha'is have a 19-day fast, abstaining ab-staining from both food and drink from sunrise to sunset. The fast ends with the March equinox and a celebration celebra-tion known as Nau-Rtfz or New Year. According to the Baha'i calendar, a Baha'i year consists of 19 months of 19 days each with the addition of certain Intercalary Days (four in ordinary and five in leap years) between the 18th and 19th months in order to adjust the calendar to the solar year.
