Show Fackrell DUP The Fackrell Camp of the DUP held their January meeting meet-ing at the home of the Dan Mitchells. Capt. Kari Bying-ton Bying-ton presided. SHE REPORTED that the Help for Santa sponsored by the chapter had been a success. suc-cess. She also reminded the members present of their fun project of having secret daughters daugh-ters to remember for birthdays, birth-days, wedding anniversaries, etc. Gretta Peterson, vice captain cap-tain of the Davis South Group was the special guest of the night. FAYE BYINGTON, newly appointed historian, gave a history of her ancestor, who came across the plains with a company which endured many hardships. Camille Mitchell, lesson leader, talked of some of the people who kept journals of their trips as they journeyed to the west. This was made more interesting with Dan Taylor's reading excerpts from their journals. THE GROUP enjoyed singing, sing-ing, accompanied by a modern record of the song and directed by Allyson Taylor. They learned that many times the pioneers sang their songs especially espe-cially loud to frighten the savages, sav-ages, who might be lurking around. Those present included Kaye Dushane, Allyson Taylor, Fa, Byington, Alice Mitchell, Pam Derbidge, Phyllis Phyl-lis Miller, Garvene Slaugh, Camille Mitchell, Irene Janes and Kari Byington. am |
