Show 2 Exciting Events At IVB Elementary The students of , the West Bountiful Elementary School were treated to two exciting events during the last weeks of January. On the night of Jan. 22 they held their annual fathers and sons night. Over 400 people were in attendance. THE PTA was in charge of the event, under the direction of Pres. Wilma Smith. She was assisted- by other members of her board, including Kathy Butler, public relations. A luncheon was served to the dads and boys and other guests. This was under the direction of Linda Thompson, hospitality chairman. THE AUDIENCE participated partici-pated in the drawing for door prizes. These prizes (50 in all), went from hamburgers and soft drinks to car washes and gallons of gas. Merchants in the area had been very good to contribute to the fun of the boys and their guests, according accord-ing to Principle Brice Hallows, one of the PTA vice presidents. presi-dents. The program was entitled "Birds of Prey." It included a lecture and slides and the displaying dis-playing of huge birds, such as hawks, eagles and vultures. They were trained to do what the owner desired. The man who presented the interesting program is a member of an educational and recreational program bureau. He is from the Orem area. THE OTHER interesting event at the school was a surprise sur-prise to the students. The KSL Channel 5 helicopter landed at the school grounds. The students stu-dents were happy to see Principal Prin-cipal Hallows in the helicopter. helicop-ter. Channel 5 had arranged for him to go down to the TV studio stu-dio and to ride out to the school with them. The boys and girls got acquainted ac-quainted with Bruce Lindsay .of the news team and with the pilot. They learned how news is gathered by helicopter. Police Chief Wayne Jeppson was present to see that all safety safe-ty precautions were adhered to. The boys and girls got to get close enough to the helicopter to see how it works.
