Show Ogden ALC Commander Honored For Duties HILL AFB - Maj. Gen. John J. Murphy, commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center, has been presented the Distinguished Service Medal for "exceptional meritorious meri-torious service while assigned to the Strategic Air Command." Com-mand." THE CITATION, approved by President Carter, was presented to the Hill Air Force Base officer by Gen. Bryce Poe III, commander of the Air Logistics Command. Maj. Gen. Murphy was cited cit-ed for his duties as commander com-mander of the 306th Bombardment Bom-bardment Wing, vice commander com-mander and later commander of the 42nd Air Division, assistant as-sistant deputy commander for operations and deputy chief of staff for Logistics, Headquarters for the Strategic Air Command, and vice commander of the Eighth Air Force from July 10, 1972 until Nov. 14, 1978. A NATIVE of New Haven, Conn., General Murphy's military dates back to World War II. He is a command pilot with more than 12,000 flying hours in bombers, fighters and transports. |
