Vl : - ' , ;'i -. . v.. r i HANDCART COMMITTEE Nine area LDS Stakes have again provided the men and women to fill over 90 committee com-mittee assignments relating to the 1979 Bountiful Handcart Days Celebration. THE GENERAL Committee is comprised of Jury Toone from the Bountiful Central Stake as general chairman; Glen Taylor from the South Stake as first vice chairman; and Wayne Wells from the Heights Stake as second vice chairman with Bayard Taylor, executive secretary; and Vonda Webster serving as the minutes secretary. y The celebration is sponsored spon-sored for the edification and entertainment of all the South Davis County communities by the Bountiful Stake of the LDS Church. It is also held in recognition and memory of the great pioneer families who settled and developed the South Davis County area. A SINCERE invitation is extended by the sponsoring stakes to everyone in the surrounding communities to come and enjoy the many events scheduled for this year's Handcart Days celebration. The general committee will coordinate the work of seven subcommittees organized to carry out various elements of the celebration. . RICHARD CAHOON heads up the exhibit corrmittee. The field events chairman is Darrel Parkin. Gordon Johnson John-son is chairman of the advertising adver-tising and public relations committee. The chairman and producer of the musical stage production in the regional center again this year is Don Zesiger. The booths, food and rides committee will be under the direction of Terrell Bird with Jim Monson assisting. Rodney Rod-ney Jex is chairman of the breakfast committee. IN ADDITION to the committee com-mittee members a considerable considera-ble number of people are required to fill specialized assignments bringing the number of persons involved in the organizing of the celebration celebra-tion to well over one hundred. The 1979 Bountiful Handcart Days Celebration will begin Wednesday, July 18, with a colorful musical stage production in the Regional Center. The show will be presented Wednesday, Thursday Thurs-day and Saturday evening at 8 p.m. The mammoth 100 unit downtown parade will begin 6:30 p.m., Friday, July 20 and the parade before some 30,000 spectators lining the mile plus Main Street route. The Bountiful Handcart Days parade is now the fourth largest lar-gest parade in the Inter-mountain Inter-mountain West. FOLLOWING the parade the crowd will move to the City Park for a full evening of family fun with food, rides and special events. Saturday events begin at dawn with a flag ceremony followed by the annual chuckwagon breakfast. The Bountiful Ream's Store is again contributing all the food for the expected 5,000 to e, 000 people who will attend the breakfast. THE REMAINDER of Saturday, Sa-turday, will be one exciting . event following another. The fine arts and crafts exhibit, the antique cars, speciai demonstrations, games, rides, food and bus tours of historic homes and sites in " the Bountiful area. The ; musical production at the Regional Center will bring the . days events to an end. Sunday evening at 8 p.m. -the Regional Center will be the scene of an area-wide fireside featuring a multi-regional multi-regional chorus and a prominent guest speaker.
