Show r v 1 .J AMYBAER Going To Poland Amy Baer, 19, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert D. Baer of Bountiful, will depart April 27 for a six-week tour of Poland, Austria, Switzerland and Germany with BYU's Young Ambassadors musical variety troupe. AMY IS A sophomore majoring in business at BYU and is a vocalist with the Young Ambassadors. Last year she toured with the group across the United States and into Canada. She graduated with honors ' from Viewmont High School in 1977 where she was active in music, drama and academics and was a member of the National Honor Society. Amy received a dean's scholarship at BYU during her freshman year. THE 40 member Young Ambassadors group, under artistic director Val D. Lindsay Lind-say of BYU's entertainment division, will present more than 30 live performances, appear on television and be involved in a number of cultural cul-tural exchanges during the tour. Cities to be visited include Warsaw, Gdansk, Vienna, Salzburg, Zurich, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and West and East Berlin, Mr. Lindsay said. THE POLISH portion of the visit is under the auspices of Friendship Ambassadors, Inc., a New York based educational exchange organization. or-ganization. Performers represent a select group of singers, dancers and musicians chosen from more than 600 students who audition each year for positions in the Young Ambassadors and. other BYU entertainment' groups. DURING THE past decade, these groups have shared . their musical message of fellowship and goodwill with audiences in South America, Eastern and Western Europe, the Soviet Union, the Orient, Canada and all 50 of the United Unit-ed States. Mr. Lindsay said the Young Ambassadors perform a wide variety of contemporary and traditional American songs including numbers by Barry Manilow and selections from Broadway musicals. |
