Show Three Play In BYU Orchestra Three Bountiful women will entertain audiences on the East Coast April 27-May 23, as members of Brigham Young University's Philharmonic Orchestra. ANDR1A HOLBROOK, Ann Parkin and Tracy Maughan will perform in major cities along the east coasts of Canada and the United States as one of 84 orchestral musicians at BYU. Miss Holbrook is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Holbrook, Miss Parkin the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Parkin, and Miss Maughan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Datus Maughan of Bountiful. MISS HOLBROOK and Miss Parkin graduated from Bountiful High School in 1977. Miss Holbrook was active in Bountiful High Orchestra and student government. Miss Parkin was active in Bountiful Boun-tiful Chamber and Golden Spike Symphony orchestras. Miss Maughan graduated from Viewmont High School in 1978, where she was active in concert choir and orchestra and was president of Future Homemakers of America. DURING THE East Coast tour, BYU's Philharmonic Orchestra will perform both classical and contemporary orchestral pieces. The orchestra, conducted by Dr. Ralph G. Laycock, has performed per-formed in several national music conventions by invitation. invita-tion. - Last year, a recording of the orchestra was chosen from tapes representing numerous schools of higher learning across the country to air over National Public. Radio. THE Philharmonic Orchestra Orches-tra tours abroad or in the United States approximately every two years. In 1977, the group toured Western Canada. The orchestra is sponsored by BYU's music department, one of four departments in the school's College of Fine Arts and Communications. |
