Show Parents Go Back To School On High School Visiting Day Harris, Harley Gillman, Jean Baxter, Mary Neves, Harriet West and Lee Macmillan. The boys who presented tumbling acts were Garth Gillman, Kennett Rogers, Leslie Miner, Leon Gordon, Verlyn Marrott, Kay Whiteley, Lloyd Walker and Donald Bronson. Teachers and parents consulted about individual problems during two periods, at 11 a. m. and 2 p. m. The afternoon assembly, conducted conduct-ed under the direction of Principal Banks and Eleroy West, featured an address by Adam S. Bennion, his subject being the three great perils Parents went "back to school" in a big way Thursday of last week when more than 350 of them attended attend-ed the annual Patrons Day at Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove high school. This was a much larger crowd than usual, according ac-cording to Karl Banks, principal of the school who had charge of the affair. . Busses furnished transportation for the visitors, the boys and girls remaining at home. Devotional exercises were held under the direction of William C. Smith, principal of the Timpanogos stake seminary, with Heber Day acting act-ing as chairman and Mrs. Nettie Warnick as organist. Speeches of welcome were given by Mr. Smith and by Principal Banks. Mr. Smith also read choice selections from the Psalms. Visitors w'ere very appreciative of the physical education demonstrations demonstra-tions presented under the direction of Miss Laura Banner and Earl Giles, directors of the department. Girls of the Junior high school who presented tumbling acts were Irene Warnick. Alice Johnson, Phyllis Nelson, Nel-son, LaRue Johnson. Doris Peay, Dawna Mae Marrott, Margaret Radmall. Rad-mall. Ruth Beck. Berniece Eeveridge Eloise Richards, TJana Nelson, Mar-vis Mar-vis Loader, Ranee Ash. Maurine Walker and Marcia Wadley. Participating in the interpretive dances were Kathryn Olpin. Lucile Halliday. Evelyn York, Wanda Miner, Min-er, Geniel Cullimore. Shirlee West. Pauline Gunderson, Billie Mae Smith, Dawn Marie Adams and Audrey Smith. The social dancing group included Gale Walker, Geniel Cullimore, Eugene Hilton, Karl Tucker, Beverly that endanger American Democracy. Luncheon was served at noon to the visitors, by the high school Foods department with Mrs. Iva Carlson in charge. Part of the food was furnished by the members of the Junior band. Proceeds will be applied ap-plied toward the Band Uniforms project, according to Mrs.. Ora Thorne, president of the Pand Mothers club who had it in charge. Another contribution to the fund was made by the Merrymakers club, whose members made and sold candy can-dy to the visiting parents. |
