Railroad Rate Changed WASHINGTON, D. C, July 24. The interestate commerce commission today approved an increase in the freight rates upon up-on hogs, carload lots, between Utah and California points, over the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake railroads from $82.50 to $106.50 per car and vacated the order suspending the operation opera-tion of the increased rate. In view of the fact that the road passes through three hundred miles of .desert country, where traffic is scarce .and the cost of operation high, and comparisons with rates on hogs from and to various other points indicate the proposed rate to be reasonable, reasona-ble, the commissions finds that the railroad company is justified in making the increased rate.
