Show Supervisor Chosen To Handle Proiect at Track 9 At a meeting of the City Recreation Rec-reation committee on Monday night, a decision was made to employ a supervisor for the contemplated con-templated construction project which is getting under way at the city race track. This step was taken on the recommendation recommenda-tion of the Red Hill Wranglers, who are furnishing the labor for the project, and who would like to get that program under way immediately. Clair Hulet. Wrangler representative repre-sentative on the committee, recommended rec-ommended the appointment of Merrill O. Mitchell to supervise the race track construction project. pro-ject. Contemplated improvements improve-ments there include the addition of a new section of grandstand, materials for which are being part of these materials are on purchased with recreation funds; on the grounds. Other items In the project is the construction of a refreshment refresh-ment stand under the new part of the grandstand which will pass Utah health department regulations, reg-ulations, and provision for modern mod-ern rest rooms for ladies at the grounds. As much of this project will be completed as is possible before the July 4th race meet contemplated by the horsemen's organization. The summer recreation program, pro-gram, especially for the younger people of the community, was discussed. The problem here is where to get a recreation supervisor super-visor for the season. The answer to this may be provided by action ac-tion of the school board in obtaining ob-taining the services of a new coach for the Parowan High School, who might be prevailed upon to come in for the summer on the city recreation dept. payroll pay-roll until school work begins. Sept. 1 Superintendent Ianthus Wright has been contacted and has stat-that stat-that the board has applicants for the position as coach, but that no action has yet been taken, tak-en, but he stated that this problem prob-lem may be worked out to help Parowan with its recreation problem. |
