Show City Business Forces Vcte to Retain Facilities of Hotel Businessmen of Cedar City gathered in meeting Monday as members of the Chamber of Commerce and civic clubs of the community unanimously supported sup-ported the city administration in its efforts to retain El Escalante Hotel as a civic center and meeting meet-ing place for civic clubs and other oth-er public functions. The city recently took an option op-tion on the building in order that some program could be developed de-veloped under which the hotel and its facilities could be retained re-tained for public use. The hotel has been offered for sale and it is feared that the property may be purchased and diverted to some other use. At the meeting Monday no attempt at-tempt was made to iron our operation oper-ation details, or to determine what part the administration could or would play in the oper-tion oper-tion of the facility. However, the group seemed unanimously of the opinion that It la Important to the community that the hotel facilities be retained. The meeting was called by the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce, and be-fore be-fore the hotel discussion was started G. D. MacDonald, chamber cham-ber president, reported on the activities of the chamber during the first three months of the year. |
