Show CEDAR CITY SOCIAL SWING The Dames Club, which is constituted con-stituted of wives of students attending at-tending C S U, have held two very Interesting meetings at the Library lounge on the campus. Guest speaker for one evening was lone Lambert, who talked to the ladies on hair styling. At the last meeting, Mrs. Ray En-glestead En-glestead gave a cake decorating demonstration. At both occasions light refreshments were served. Visiting at the home of her I parents, Mr. and Mrs. Parley Dal. ley, Is Mrs. William M. Lence, the former Louise Dalley. Mrs. Lence prans to stay in Cedar City for approximately four weeks while her husband, who is connected with the Immigration Service in the Salt Lake office, is attending a training school in Washington. D. C. Thus far the Dalleys and their daughter have enjoyed visiting in Dixie with relatives and taking in the splendor splen-dor of Zion Park. During her stay,-Mrs. stay,-Mrs. Lence looks forward to meeting her old friends here In1 Cedar City. I Mr. and Mrs. Sam Gentry visited vis-ited In Salt Lake City the past week-end with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ro-land Ro-land Palmer. Mr. Palmer is attending at-tending the University of Utah and ReNee is working at KSL studios. On their way home, the Gentrys stopped in Nephl to at-tend at-tend the Kiwanis training school. Miss Emma Nielson was the guest of honor at a neighborhood gathering held at the residence of Marilyn Lindstrom last Wed-! nesday. The evening was spent visiting and playing games after which refreshments were served by co-hostesses Mrs. Lindstrom and Dorothy Ronnow. During the evening a gift was presented to the guest of honor by Carol Hatch, Carmen Hill, Alene Chamberlain Cham-berlain and the hostesses. Miss Nielson was also given a beautifully beau-tifully decorated cake made by Alene Chamberlain. The cake was decorated In the form of a book upon which was inscribed "Life is like a golden book and its pages are those of friendship." A former Miss Cedar City at-! tendant has been honored by the Utah State University in Logan. Lo-gan. Last week Jane Okerlund was chosen first attendant to Miss Utah State to reign over Agathon Days. Miss Okerlund will be remembered as a former Homecoming queen while attending at-tending C S U and also as the sister of Mrs. Dixie Leavitt of this city. ! The Jaycee Ettes held their election banquet In conjunction with the May social last Thursday Thurs-day evening at the Airport Cafe. A delicious ham dinner was en-Joyed-by. the members. During the evenlng"PaUy Rollo turned the gavel over to the newly elected president, Carma Lunt. The evening was made especial-ly especial-ly pleasant by numbers offered by The Four Keys and by Helen Harris who played a piano solo. The program was climaxed with a reading by Joan Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Erlck- son traveled to Salt Lake City last week. During their stay, they were guests of Mr. Erlckson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Erlck.wn. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Glttlns of Salt Lake City, who were in Cedar Ce-dar City Sunday as guests of the. Art Exhibit Committee, enjoyed Sunday dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gaell Lindstrom following the art exhibit lecture. The Wel-Ak-Avis met at the home of Mrs. W. Arthur Jones last week. Members of the club were royally entertained by members of the oral Interpretation Interpreta-tion class of C S U under the direction di-rection of Elaine Southwlck. The students who read recently returned re-turned from the state poetry festival fes-tival where they took high honors hon-ors for the readings offered. Those reading poems of Christina Chris-tina Rossettl and other writers were Dolly Morrison, Glenna Rife, Merely n Bradshaw, Gae Murdock, Fran David and Rodney Rod-ney Rowley. Refreshments were served and newly elected officers offi-cers were announced. Those tak ing over the helm for the coming com-ing year are Mrs. Wllford U. Webster, president; Mrs. Langll Lunt, vice president, and Mrs. Lorln C. Miles, secretary. The officers of-ficers for the past year have been Mrs. Wilson Lunt, president; Mrs. Moroni Perry, vice president an Mrs. I. E. Riddle, secretary, and Mrs. Kumen Jones, reporter. Mrs-Jones Mrs-Jones will continue her duties during the coming year. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas E. Murphy Mur-phy have as guests this week Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Klugery oX Spokane. Wash. They plan to return re-turn to their home Monday. |
