Show League Delegate Enjoys Washington Trip Being a representative to the National Council of the League ot Women Voters has been a stimulating and rich experience for Mrs. L. V. Broadbent. The main portion of the conference which was held In Washington, D. C. revolved around. meetings of the delegates and the business busi-ness at hand. However, these meetings weie interspersed with social and gen. eral activities. Mrs. Broadbent had the privilege of being hostess host-ess at the congressional breakfast break-fast at which time her guests were Utah Senator Arthur Wat-kins Wat-kins and Representative Henry Aldous Dixon and William Daw. son. The impressive affair was held In the grand ballroom ol the Wlllard Hotel with 83 dele-gates dele-gates and 22 observers and their congressional guests present. Fourty-four states and the District Dis-trict of Columbia were represented. represent-ed. After breakfast Senator Waij kins personally conducted Mrs. Broadbent on a tour of the Capitol Capi-tol building and the senate offiro building. She witnessed the Senate Sen-ate In action with Vice President Nixon presiding. Later she was Senator Watkln's luncheon truest at the Senate dining room. Another highlight of the convention con-vention was the conference held by President Elsenhower In the '.ise garden of the White Hous? for the delegates. During the latter lat-ter part of the conference the. nress was Invited to ask the( auestions. It was during this por-1 tlon of the interview that pictures pic-tures were taken by the press representatives present.
