I WHAT DOES THE BIBLE TEACH? THE LIFE OF CHRIST By Bob Reynolds With this article we begin a study of the life of Jesus Christ. In the beginning this study we begin a study of -the life of the greatest man who ever lived. The story of "the life of Jesus is the most sublime story ever told. His ".life Is the source of all life. His character Is the standard -for all holy living. His labor is the pattern of all unselfish r service. His patience In suffering is a model of Christian : fortitude and endurance. His triumph is the assurance of i ultimate victory and the inspiration of courage and per-tseverance per-tseverance to all who would be faithful In His service. What we know of the life of Christ is recorded in the Tirst four books of the New Testament Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. While these writers will occasionally over-Hap, over-Hap, each one gives us information not contained in the other three. Matthew shows that Jesus was the promised "Messiah and often quotes the prophets to show how Christ rfulfllled their predictions. Mark emphasizes the things ..Jesus did rather than the things He taught. Luke shows .i us the humanity of Jesus by describing His Interest in the rsufrerlng of mankind. John writes to prove the divinity of Christ. We learn from John that Jesus existed from tne be-rfcinning. be-rfcinning. We are told, "In the beginning was the Word, and " the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John In verses 14-17 of the same chapter we learn that the -word was Jesus Christ This, when God said at the crea--tlon, "Let ns make man in our image," (Genesis 1:26) He rzt spaklng of Christ As God's only begotten Son He -was sent to earth to redeem the world from sin.
