Show Ninth Graders Will j Receive H. S. Entrance Counseling Monday morning under the direction of the guidance department depart-ment and In cooperation with the home-room teachers, the Cedar Ce-dar City Junior High School be-gan be-gan conferring with all ninth grade students of the school In preparation for their entrance Into In-to high school next year. The counselors are meeting each child for a 30 minute conference con-ference accompanied by the parents. par-ents. The main purpose of the Individual Indi-vidual conference will be to help the student to more efficiently plan his fuiuie Cuutses tiiiuiign the three years of senior high school. By the time the students reach the ninth grade they are beginning begin-ning to think more definitely regarding re-garding some of the areas they would like to explore, and ultimately ulti-mately boil them down to a more specific area as they leave high school and enter college. Many of them leave school early because be-cause they haven't found a special spec-ial interest during their high school years. This It is hoped will help them to find those Interests. In-terests. Besides the information and suggestions that may come from the counselor, parent or child during the conference, at their disposal is a continuation record rec-ord which has accumulated over the years and contains complete records of the student's accomplishments, accomp-lishments, activities, and their strengths as well as weaknesses. These are all Invaluable in the appraisal and future guidance of the child. There Is no one sure way of evaluating the child's progress or determining his future course In life but when all aspects of the situation are weighed and zalanced out the chances for his future success are very good. With our rapidly changing "world of work" the need for direction di-rection and guidance of youth is fast becoming the number one task of educators and parents. |
