Show Mine Operations Curtailed By Industry Lag A general lag in the steel industry in-dustry throughout the United States has found Its way back to the mining Industry of Iron County affecting both Columbia Iron Mining Company and Utah Construction Company, major concerns in this area. The United States Steel office In Salt Lake City confirmed today to-day that a four-day a week work schedule has gone into affect at Columbia Iron Mining operations in Iron County for an Indefinite period. The reduced schedules were brought about by present business busi-ness and operating conditions effecting the amount of ore required re-quired for Columbia - Geneva Steel's blast furnaces In Utah County, a company representative representa-tive stated. I Utah Construction, who strip and mine the Comstotk west of ,Cedar City under contract with 'Colorado Fuel and Iron, indicated 'th.it CF&I have ordered discontinuance discon-tinuance of mining operations at Ah Comstook pits. I No Indication was given as to when CF&I would call for additional addi-tional ore from that pit at the time of the shut down.
