Show Retiring Teacher Paid Tribute for Years of Service Versatility has long been re- garded as a major factor In a ' winning effort. Baseball teams with versatile utility men who' can fill any position are usually regarded as stronger pennant contenders than those teams that lack such valuable utility men. Although a versatile man is rarely rare-ly regarded as a superstar by the public, his teammates always know what valuable contributions contribu-tions such an individual has made. Tuesday, June 2, 10G5, at 3:(K) P. m. in the Cedar City Junior High School Auditorium, Iron County's "Mr. Versatile," Glen Garfield, will be honored. Mr. Garfield, who has been an educator educa-tor for nineteen years, sixteen years in Iron County, lias cpito-jmied cpito-jmied versatility in education. In his sixteen years in Iron County, Mr. Garfield has taught i at nearly every grade level and nearly every subject with the possible exception of girls' V. K. and Home Economics. Mr. Garfield, who holds a M. E. degree from Utah State Univer sity, has exhibited all the sterling ster-ling qualities of a valuable utility utili-ty man; he has willingly and without complaint taught in subject sub-ject areas fi r which he has had little or no preparation because no one was available with proper preparation, and Glen was more adjustable and talented at versatility ver-satility than anyone else. As typical of utility men, Glen has subordinated himself and avoided avoid-ed the limelight to cooperate with colleagues for a winning effort. Though plagued with 111 health that would have stopped a lesser man long ago, Glen has continued contin-ued to be dedicated, hard working work-ing public servant. His health and the doctor's insistence have finally forced Mr. Garfield's premature pre-mature retirement from public education. To honor Mr. Garfield at his retirement, the faculty of the Cedar Ce-dar Junior High School and the employees of the Iron County School District invite the public, former students and friends to join with them Tuesday, June 2 to say thank you publicly to Glen i Garfield for his many years of .dedicated service winning efforts and his big character. |
