Show Geology Study-Travel Institute Included In Summer Offering College of Southern Utah is offering, of-fering, as part of its 19(15 summer program, a geology study-travel institute, designed for education majors and for general cJucatu1:: physical science credit, 'lhe subject sub-ject areas covered will include Introductory Rocks and Minerals, Geology 5; and CJeology of Southern South-ern Utah, Geology 101. Upper division di-vision or graduate credit is available avail-able for Geology 101. The Institute Insti-tute will run three weeks, July 12 through July 30. The purpose of the Institute is to offer practical classroom and field experience, which will acquaint ac-quaint the student with the basic rocks and minerals in their natural na-tural setting. They will study stratigraphy, surface characteristics, characteris-tics, and evolution of geologic southern Utah and the Colorado Plateau. Though not essential, it is desirable for students to have had physical geology previously. Six quarter hours credit will be given for completion of the course, aiihougn It is possible to register for three hours, or to audit the course. Extensive field trips will be taken, approximately 1800 miles. The first eight days will be spent on campus in classroom study in preparation for the trip. Regular CSU Summer School will begin Monday, June 14. The regular session will run for eight weeks. Two four-week terms will be held concurrently with the regular session. |
