Show Utah State Elks Association i To Hold Convention in Cedar Approximately 100 Elks and Ladies from throughout the state of Utah are expected to converge on Cedar City next week end for the 51st Annual Utah State Elks Association Convention slated Thursday through Sundav, June 3 ti. Frank Wise, Oregon, a Trustee of the Grand Lodge, and William S. Hawkins, Past Grand Exalted Ruler from Ceour D'Alene, Idaho, will be in attendance at the convention con-vention according to J. D. Dock-stead:, Dock-stead:, general convention chairman. Cedcu Elks Lodge Host The Cedar City Elks Lodge No. I 1556 is serving as host for the annual event with Exalted Ruler ; Robert Tucket as the official convention con-vention host. Hawkins is currently serving as the Grand Lodge Advisor for the Eastern Rocky Mountain States. Both of the Grand Lodge visitors visit-ors will address sessions of the convention. Presiding over the convention sessions will be Ted Soles, president presi-dent of the Utah Elks Association. A member of the Cedar City Lodge, Past Exalted Ruler J. Vurge Smith, is serving as first vice president of the state organ-i.i.i.jii organ-i.i.i.jii aiid v. ill assume the po-j sition of President of the State Assoeiation during the course of the convention succeeding Soles. Mayor kuinen S. Gardner will deliver the address of welcome to the conventioneers at the opening open-ing session of the convention Friday Fri-day morning at 9 a. m. Activities will actually get underway un-derway Thursday evening with the beginning of registration antl a buffet dance at the Lodge. The Utah State Ladies of Elfcs Association will hold sessions concurrently with the Elks. A siaie board meeting for the women wo-men will be held Thursday after-noon after-noon at 4 p. m. in the Elks Lodge and Saturday nominations and election of oiticer sessions is slated slat-ed at 9 a. m. Friday's agenda for the ElkJi including registration from 9 a. m. to 9 p. m.; a coffee bar at 3 a. ni to 9 a. m.; business session, 9 a. m. to 11:45; luncheon, 12 noon to 2 p. m. At 1 p. m. a shot- -gun golf tournament will be , staged and an Elks Bowling tournament will be run at the same time. An open house for Lhe indivdual louges will also run iroiu 1 p. m. to 6 p. m. with the Cedar City Lodge to stage an . ... .- .i houc Horn tt to 7 p. m. Friday Fri-day evening a Smorgasbord will oe staged at the lodge followed J by dancing. y Saturday's business sessions , will be held at 9 a. m. and 1:30 p. r.i. with special memorial services ser-vices at 11 a. m. in honor ot departed de-parted members of the past year. Fourteen lodges from throughout through-out lhe state are expected to be represented at the confab. |
