Show Cedar Redmen Wins from Basic High. 69-53 Nell Roberts, Cedar City All-stater, All-stater, led the way Saturday evening eve-ning for the Cedar Hljh School Redmen as they downed a strong intersectional rival, Basic High of Henderson, Nev. 67 to 53. Roberts hit for 39 points in the contest to lead the way. In addition ad-dition to his scoring he completely com-pletely dominated the defensive bankboard to help In holding the scoring down for the visiting squad. Hans Chamberlain at the guard line also hit in the double figures fig-ures with 11 points with four field goals, most of them outside out-side shots over the zone defense set up by Basic. In the latter part of the game Dan Jones also hit from outside to help keep the Redmen out In front The Redmen showed improvement improve-ment over their opening two games of the season, but still had trouble in some areas. A number of bad passes were costly In the game, with some long looping passes picked off by the Basic crew. Patterns were still somewhat rough as the ball uno mnviiH fmm iinnt trt froot. sometimes regardless of whether or not the man was there to receive re-ceive It Chamberlain opened the scoring, scor-ing, hitting on an outside shot over the zone and the Redmen moved into a quick lead. Near the end of the first period Basic came up with three fast breaks to take a 9 to 8 margin Just as the gun sounded. It was short lived, however, and the only lead for the Nevadans in the contest Nell Roberts went to work In the second period, hitting five field goals to lead the way to a 27 to 17 halftime lead. The two clubs played on a fairly even basis ba-sis during the third period with Basic closing the gap by Just one point. In the fourth period a full court press by Basic rattled the Redmen for a few moments but they bounced back to move out to a convincing lead and the fi-i nal victory with Roberts having' his biggest quarter, hitting six field goals and four foul pitches pitch-es for 16 points in the one period alone. Roberts got away 28 shots in the game and hit 17 of them for a shooting percentage of 61. As a team the Redmen hit 54. In rebounding the Redmen were on top with a total of 32 rebounds against 22 for Basic. Defensive De-fensive rebounds had the Red-' men out in front 26 to 16 and offensively it was the Redmen 8 to 6.
